Golden Globe Award-winner Kate Hudson is lending her acting chops to Apple’s popular drama Truth Be Told.
The streaming service announced Friday that Hudson will join the series, which stars Octavia Spencer as a reporter turned investigating podcaster. Hudson will play Micah Keith, a lifestyle guru and friend of Spencer’s character Poppy Parnell. Together, the two will navigate their relationship as they become entwined in a case.
Alongside writer and executive producer Nichelle Tramble Spellman, Truth Be Told is also executive produced by Spencer, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine, Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping for Chernin Entertainment, and Mikkel Norgaard. Production on Season 2 is set to begin in Los Angeles on Oct. 26.
Perhaps best known for her roles in Almost Famous, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and Bride Wars, the Academy Award-nominated Hudson is also a producer, entrepreneur and bestselling author. She’s repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Truth Be Told was originally ordered as a limited series but was renewed for a second season after becoming one of Apple’s best performing series from its first wave of original shows. The complete first season is now available exclusively on Apple+.
