Google announces September 30th launch event for Pixel 4a/5, Chromecast, and the new Nest Speaker

The stable release of Android 11 began rolling out to Pixel handsets last week and all thoughts turned to when Google was going to announce the launch of the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5 handsets, as well as the new Nest Speaker and the Chromecast with Android Google TV device. Well, the time for wondering is over because the Search giant has just sent out invites to an online event to be held on September 30th.

We already know a fair amount about the Pixel 4a (5G) and Pixel 5, the new Nest Speaker, and the new Chromecast that has Google TV built-in, affectionately known as ‘Sabrina‘. The event also brings the rebranding of Android TV to its former name of Google TV, yet another step in the roadmap of abandoning the Android moniker by the search giant.

There’s some ambiguity as to whether Google will provide a live stream for the event, and we’ll update this post as soon as we find out a definitive answer.

He’s been an Android fan ever since owning an HTC Hero, with the Dell Streak being his first phablet. He currently carries an OPPO Find X2 Pro in his pockets, a Galaxy Tab S5e in his backpack, and thinks nothing of lugging a 17-inch laptop around the world.
